Table of Contents showTop 5 books that remind you of a season
I will be needing some summery suggestions in the midst of our winter here. (Consider it my birthday present!!) – From Meeghan Reads
I can do summer and with all cozy mysteries. Just think of it as me redeeming myself for my non-summery 20 days of Summer post. I like to do a little nod to Carla’s post where every single book has summer in the title. Amazing.
Deadly Summer Nights by Vicki Delany
A summer of fun at a Catskills resort comes to an abrupt end when a guest is found murdered, in this new 1950s set mystery series.
It’s the summer of 1953, and Elizabeth Grady is settling into Haggerman’s Catskills Resort. As a vacation getaway, Haggerman’s is ideal, and although Elizabeth’s ostentatious but well-meaning mother is new to running the resort, Elizabeth is eager to help her organize the guests and the entertainment acts. But Elizabeth will have to resort to untested abilities if she wants to save her mother’s business.
When a reclusive guest is found dead in a lake on the grounds, and a copy of The Communist Manifesto is found in his cabin, the local police chief is convinced that the man was a Russian spy. But Elizabeth isn’t so sure, and with the fate of the resort hanging in the balance, she’ll need to dodge red herrings, withstand the Red Scare, and catch a killer red-handed.
Title Wave by Lorna Barrett
While her bookstore, Haven’t Got a Clue, is rebuilt following a devastating fire, Tricia Miles and her sister, Angelica, decide to book a cruise for some much needed R&R. Naturally they choose a Mystery Lovers cruise, where they can ponder whodunnit in Adirondack chairs while sipping colorful drinks and soaking up some rays.
But the fun is cut short when a fellow passenger is murdered for real. Is the killer a famous mystery author, one of his fans, or a member of the ship’s crew? As Tricia tries to find the killer before they reach port, she may be cruising for a bruising.
A Side of Murder by Amy Pershing
Samantha Barnes was always a foodie. So when the CIA (that’s the Culinary Institute of America) came calling, she happily traded in Cape Cod for the Big Apple. Soon the young chef is a rising star in the city’s food scene—until a feud with another chef (her ex) boils over and goes viral. So when Sam inherits her Great-Aunt Ida’s house on the Cape and lands a job writing restaurant reviews, it seems like the perfect pairing. What could go wrong? Well, as it turns out, a lot.
The dilapidated house comes with an enormous puppy. Her new boss is, well, bossy. And the town’s new harbormaster is none other than her first love. Nonetheless, Sam’s looking forward to testing her inner food critic at the Bayview Grille—and indeed the seafood chowder is divine. But the body floating in the pond outside the eatery was not on the menu. Though the drowning is called an accident, Sam is certain it’s murder. And as she begins to stir the pot, it becomes terrifyingly clear that she may be writing the recipe for her own untimely demise.
Blackberry Summer by RaeAnne Thayne
Claire Bradford needed a wake-up call.
What she didn’t need was a tragic car accident. As a single mom and the owner of a successful bead shop, Claire leads a predictable life in Hope’s Crossing, Colorado. So what if she has no time for romance? At least, that’s what she tells herself, especially when her best friend’s sexy younger brother comes back to town as the new chief of police.
But when the accident forces Claire to slow down and lean on others; especially Riley McKnight; she realizes, for the first time, that things need to change. And not just in her own life. The accident; and the string of robberies committed by teenagers that led up to it; is a wake-up call to the people of Hope’s Crossing. The sense of community and togetherness had been lost during those tough years. But with a mysterious “Angel of Hope” working to inspire the town, Riley and Claire will find themselves opening up to love and other possibilities by the end of an extraordinary summer.

Well that’s my list! What books would you pick for this prompt?
(My Top 5 Tuesday post will be linked to Meeghan’s blog, the meme Host)
These are wonderful covers, Luna. I have most of them on my TBR. I also enjoy a good cozy, so appreciate this list. Thanks for the shout out, by the way.
Yay, so glad you enjoyed my list!! I’ve found that my reading has veered heavily towards cozies in the last two years. It’s the majority of what I read.
Title Wave has caught my eye before. I love the title and a boat too? I’m in. 🙂 I’ve wanted to get that Vicki Delany one too…
I read Title Wave a few years back, it’s pretty far into the series so i wished i had started from the beginning. I didn’t know the characters enough.
I love the Vicki Delany book also!! The second book is coming out soon.
Thanks for coming by.
